It’s Not Just Because “Blogging Is Cool”

In the past when marketing your message, you had a few selections to choose from: television, radio, print ads and billboards.  The options are pricey to say the least.  Today the world searches on the web for information, so the wise entrepreneur, business person or marketer is prepared. YouTube videos, television clips, Twitter one-liners, engaging stories and audio sound bites are just some of the different avenues through which a marketing message could be conveyed. However, in order to use these well, you have to know the best channels to support them.

Recently, we began working with a client that has invented an ultra slim wallet.  The wallet is unique in the way that it really is a flat wallet and it maintains flexibility in the pocket as well.  Of course, when we learned about this invention, the first thing that came into our heads wasn’t the name of the competitors or questions of the actual dimensions or ways to post the message on a billboard… No, the first thing we thought of was this (the video will send you to YouTube on a different browser tab):

What better way to convey a message that you may need to figure a way to downsize your own wallet than by presenting George Costanza’s overly stuff wallet to a laughing, empathizing audience.  Clips like these are excellent ways to convey a marketing message in a non-intrusive, but highly persuasive form.

Traditional marketing methods have long-been the way of the marketer. However, an engaging story or video that connects with the viewer in a unique, personal way, is a method that holds great, great value.  That, my friends, is the beauty of the current Age; an Age where your message can be conveyed using many different types of media, stories, micro-blogging and more through one blog.

Blogs for Marketing

The provocative thing about blogs for marketing your message is that you can incorporate so many different elements. One blog can house:

  • Audio/Video Podcasts
  • Videos from Anywhere that Convey Your Message
  • Engaging Stories
  • Pictures
  • Testimonials of Any Kind
  • Facebook Status
  • Twitter Feeds
  • Shopping Carts
  • Buttons to Spread Message Virally (Digg, StumbleUpon, Twitter, Facebook, etc.)
  • … and more!

Blogs aren’t just something that people maintain in order to “stay current” on trends… But they are a way to really develop your message using many different communication tools, housed in one place – your blog.
