I am pleased to announce that this coming Monday we are officially launching How-To-Blog.TV with a week of giveaways. The giveaways will include gift certificates to some popular casual dinning restaurants and the Grand Prize will be that some lucky blogger will get their own iPhone Application (provided by AppMakr).
A Little History
Last year, Hannah, Matt, Jerod, and I decided that we wanted to create a blog that was dedicated to empowering a community of bloggers. We wanted to present the topic of blogging in a way that was approachable by all levels of bloggers including those who were just curious!
After careful planning, we began to publish content in early November in order to begin working toward the launch of How-To-Blog.TV. Since then, we’ve published 61 posts including our beginner series. This content has allowed us to begin to drive traffic via major search engines and build community online in services like Twitter and StumbleUpon. We also got a couple of unexpected lucky breaks along the way. We’ll be talking about those lucky breaks and a lot more in the coming week. Here is the schedule of posts and giveaways:
Monday March 1, 2010 – Hannah will be publishing a post about “viral video” and asking commentors to share a link to their favorite viral video. We will be giving away $30 worth of gift certificates to Chili’s to TWO separate commenters that we picked at random!
Tuesday March 2, 2010 – I will be publishing a post about our various efforts to get exposure and build community on How-T0-Blog.TV prior to launch. We will be randomly selecting a subscriber of our RSS feed for a $50 gift certificate to Maggiano’s Little Italy.
Wenesday March 3, 2010 – Jerod will be publishing a post that will explore the roadmap a blogger should consider after they launch their blog. We will be giving away 1 hour of our consulting time for free to a randomly selected RSS subscriber.
Thursday March 4, 2010 – Matt will be publishing an overview of the types of plugins that can help you amplify your community after you’ve established it. We will be giving away another $50 gift certificate to Maggiano’s Little Italy to a randomly selected RSS subscriber.
Friday March 5, 2010 – I will be publishing a post that discusses the role of mobility in blogging. At the end of the day, all subscribers to our RSS feed will be eligible for a random drawing for our grand prize. Our grand prize is an RSS Mashup iPhone Application created by AppMakr that will basically allow a blogger to publish their own app to the appstore on iTunes. (The winner has 60 days to use their credit and we will volunteer to help you through the process.)
How To Register or Be Eligible
For Monday’s giveaway you will simply need to participate in the comments section of Monday’s post. In order to be eligible for any of the other giveaways you will need to be a subscriber to our RSS feed. The easiest way to subscribe is via the email subscription signup button on the upper right hand side of our sidebar.
You can unsubscribe at any time but we hope you’ll join us for the long haul on our blogging journey. All winners will be selected the morning after the date above and the Grand Prize will be announced on Monday March 8, 2010.
Best of luck!
Disclaimers, Attorney’s, Etc
Basically, we don’t charge any money for this site and we’ve had some very generous people donate our gifts for next week. Your relationship is with How-To-Blog.TV and is spelled out in our terms of service. In terms of the giveaways, we have what we have and there are no substitutions or liability created by us if a winner cannot derive value from the giveaway. For example, if you win a food gift certificate and the concept is not in your area, we cannot exchange it for something else that is. In the spirit of community, however, we would highly encourage you to re-gift your winning. We can certainly line you up with a family in need that we can do something nice for. The same applies to the Grand Prize. . .there are plenty of non-profits that have blogs that could put this to use if you can’t. Of course, in exchange for your kindness, we will promote you as a blogger for paying it forward.
